Dental Assistant
Dental assistants provide quality preventative and corrective dental care under direct supervision of the dentist or dental hygienist. The dental assistant is responsible for assisting dentists and dental hygienists with patient care as well as providing certain administrative support to the office. Ongoing research linking oral health and general health will likely continue to increase the demand for preventive dental services and dental professionals.
In our non-credit, short-term training dental assistant program, you will:
- Train with industry professionals to learn best practices in the field
- Gain the professional skills needed to function as an assistant in a dental practice
- Prepare to become a dental assistant within one semester

Program Details
- Lecture: Online via D2L. Asynchronous delivery 鈥� no set class days/times
- Materials: Class materials are released online weekly on Mondays by 6 am. A hard copy textbook and workbook are provided.
- Labs: Local dental office 鈥� 6-9 pm on Tuesdays (Dates TBD)
- According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment in the dental field is expected to grow 8 percent from 2021-2031, which is much faster than the average for all occupations.
- Ongoing research linking oral health and general health will likely continue to increase the demand for preventive dental services.
- The median annual wage for Dental Assistant was $43,000 in 2024.
The program costs $1,300 including textbooks and supplies. Federal and state financial aid are not available to offset cost. A payment plan is available.
