Kish College to host Discover Kish for new students
Â鶹ӰԺ will host Discover Kish, an informational event for new students and their families. Discover Kish is from 11 am-3 pm Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at the College.
Read MoreOur Advisory Committees design programs to prepare students to directly enter the workforce after completion of a degree or certificate. Advisory Committees are composed of local and regional professionals in a program’s field and Â鶹ӰԺ instructors. Together, employers and educators share information and ideas to ensure that the programs and curricula are responsive to real-world workforce experience. The majority of members are from outside the field of education, representing labor, management, and the general public. They serve in an advisory capacity without pay or compensation.
Occupational advisory committees are mandated by both federal and state laws. You have been selected as a member of an advisory committee to lend your expertise, knowledge and experience as an advisor to public education. Individuals who are selected to serve are chosen because they have demonstrated success in their chosen occupations. You are a valuable asset to Â鶹ӰԺ in that you will be advising the college regarding the proper preparation of students for rewarding careers of their choice.
The students, who will be the ultimate beneficiaries of your labors on the committee, will eventually be working in the occupation or career cluster of occupations you represent. The students must be able to compete in the job market, find and hold employment in their chosen fields, be able to progress on the job, and be productive members of society. To provide a quality education for students, the college needs your advice and assistance.
What the committee will do — and the effectiveness of the process — will depend to a great extent on how well you as a member make it work. The recommendations you make, the advice you give, and the efforts you expend will all help in providing an excellent learning opportunity for Kish students.
